Job Description

The company designs, produces and showcases custom made product including indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, rugs, textiles and leathers.

Position Profile : The Senior Accountant generally works in an office environment, but is expected to be highly familiar with all production operations and to regularly visit all significant company operations (5-15% travel.)


  1. Reconcile accounts monthly and recommend appropriate entries related to valuation, costing of goods sold, reserves and in-transit inventory

  2. Complete financial close for 2 manufacturing sites timely and accurately

  3. Validate gross margins as part of the month-end close and review inaccuracies

  4. Work with purchasing and inventory teams to resolve outstanding balances and issues

  5. Complete monthly general ledger account reconciliation and analysis

  6. Complete special projects as needed in a timely and organized manner


  1. Develop plan and execute physical inventory counts at ; Investigate and resolve variances and issues

  2. Work with Inventory Managers to improve purchasing processes and develop open to buy plans

  3. Calculate the excess and obsolete inventory reserves monthly for current and future quarters

  4. Work with the inventory managers to adjust, liquidate and dispose of obsolete at inventory

  5. Manage physical counts for showrooms and workrooms

Analysis and Reporting

  1. Work with merchandizing team on product cost analysis and product mix

  2. Develop financial models to analyze and forecast profitability including new items and price increases

  3. Develop reporting for inventory including key performance metrics, reserves and goals by category

  4. Report on Cycle Count results and opportunities to improve inventory management practices

  5. Conduct ongoing process and system analysis

System and Process Controls

  1. Review the SOX and operational controls to ensure accurate report financial results related to gross margin, inventory, purchasing, pricing, costing and bill of materials

  2. Work closely with Internal and External Auditors to gather information and prepare reports

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, 3-5 years of relevant work experience with inventory

  • Professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, organization, and communication skills

  • Ability to build strong relationships cross-functionally including executive leadership

  • Motivated and proactive self-starter with a sense of urgency and results oriented

  • Promotes positive attitude

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects daily with high level of accuracy

  • Excellent analytical skills
